Introduction
The Governments of Finland and Denmark are collaborating on a number of initiatives to improve environmental management in Zambia. Initial support was provided to the Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources (MTENR) to facilitate the implementation of the Environment and Natural Resources Management and Mainstreaming Programme. Subsequent financial resources from the two Cooperating Partners have been allocated towards the support of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the Environment and Natural Resources and related sectors. With this intention the project –“Support to Civil Society Organisations in Environmental Management in Zambia.” document has been finalized and approved. This is a €4.8 million project with two components namely the establishment and management of a CSO Environmental Fund and the design and registration of the CSO Environmental Centre which is expected to run as an independent knowledge management and capacity development centre, targeting CSOs involved in environmental management. It is expected that the project will run for approximately 3 years.
Invitation for Expression of Interest
A call for Expression of Interest to manage the project is hereby launched and all eligible organizations are invited to apply. This call closes on the 23rd of July 2010 and applications should be submitted to the undersigned organisation on or before the stipulated closing date.
Eligibility Criteria
The following is the eligibility criteria of the organization(s) that will be considered for the purposes of managing the project:
1. The applicant should be a legally registered organization in Zambia. The organisation should be operational in Zambia either as a Society, a Trust, Company limited by guarantee, a Company limited by shares, or a Sole proprietorship;
2. The applicant should have a track record of at least 5 years working experience in Project Management, Grant Management and/or Fund management.
3. The applicant should have demonstrated working experience or relationship with the Civil Society Organisations.
Eligible organizations are free to submit individual or joint Expressions of Interest.
Information to be provided
The applicants are expected to provide the following information as part of their Expression of Interest:
1. Organisation profile including a description of similar works handled by the organization in the last 3- 5 years;
2. Certified copies of the Certificate of Registration or Incorporation; annual returns and Tax Identification Pin Number(s);
3. Copy of the current strategic plan and audited financial statements for the last 3 years;
